Below are three days of special events leading up to the commissioning of the USS SOUTH DAKOTA (SSN 790). We hope can join us as we celebrate this amazing submarine and her journey to become an active member of the United States Navy.

The commissioning ceremony will be held in a heated tent on the pier next to SSN 790. Guests who prefer to experience the commissioning indoors are welcome to watch a live broadcast from Dealey Theater near the pier. The post-commissioning reception will also be held in a heated tent next to the pier. Guests are encouraged to check the forecast and prepare for cold weather.
*For the submarine tour, closed toed shoes must be worn for the tour and guests must be physically able to climb ladders. The spaces on the submarine are extremely tight so please keep that in mind if you are claustrophobic.
*To ensure everyone can witness this historic day, the event will be handicap accessible. Transportation from the parking lot to the pier will be offered for wheelchair and limited mobility attendees. We will also make proper event seating accommodations to anyone in a wheelchair, but they must bring their own wheelchairs.
The Mystic Marriott will be our headquarters hotel and the Friday evening reception will occur at the hotel’s ballroom. The Mystic Marriott is conveniently located just a short distance from the all other event locations. A block of rooms has been reserved at a special rate of $149/night.
